| Champalao Sam Phan Bok: The Amazing Grand Canyon of Thailand
From Hat Salueng at Ban Song Khon in Song Khon subdistrict of the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani, if you travel by boat along the Mekong River for four kilometers, you will pass Pak Bong, the narrowest point of the Mekong, only 56 meters wide. Also you will see Hin Hua Phaniang, a huge strange-shaped rock in the middle of the river. This rock is part of an island that emerges in midstream, dividing the Mekong into two streams, locally referred to as Song Khon, the name of which is given to the village in the area, Ban Song Khon.
